Humans Cannot Thrive in Isolation

Divide and Conquer

That is an age-old strategy of the enemy.  If we can be separated from those who love us, care for us, and will help us when we are down - we are much easier to conquer.

We risk the loss of so many things dear to us, starting with our joy.

Don't fall for the enemy's strategy and fight the desire for isolation.

A battle is a battle and we can't surrender or stop the fight.

You are not in it alone - God has this battle won and the enemy defeated!

Pray and ask for His Victory!

We Live In Victory!!!

God Reaches the Ends of the Earth

The little things in life are important. God cares about those seemingly minuscule issues we face on a daily basis.

Yet, let's not forget the enormity of God and his reach.

His power to touch the microscopic in our life also extends around the earth to influence and change the seemingly unchangeable and untouchable enormous problems of His creation and His people.

Thank the Lord for His love and mercy!

9      We have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness,
In the midst of Your temple.a
10      According to Your name, O God,
    So is Your praise to the ends of the earth;
Your right hand is full of righteousness.
    11      Let Mount Zion rejoice,
Let the daughters of Judah be glad,
    Because of Your judgments.

Facebook Fact Checking Political Ads is Ridiculous

The idea that Facebook should fact check political advertisements is the next ridiculous statement to come out of Washington.

The fact that our politicians can't fact check themselves should be the 1st clue that this is not only impossible but also a standard
not held by those who insist upon it.

I think back to the presidential and congressional races in the past. Do you remember the day that the TV advertisements started adding the following phrase to the end of the commercial,
"I am George Bush and I approve this message"?
False advertising and manipulation of the political process have been going for decades via multiple methods, social media being the most current.

It isn't realistic to think that Facebook could even remotely have the ability to fact check political advertisements when the information coming out of Washington is consistently false or interpreted differently depending on who is distributing the information.

Twitter announced they will not allow political advertisements. That is one way to handle the influence of Russia, China, and other countries who have mastered the art of political deception of the American people via their most popular and destructive past time - social media.

Past is prologue and shouldn't be ignored.

What is past is prologue. Because we tend to live for the moment, history is often ignored. We can never escape the past. What we have been shapes what we are and what we will become. (1.)

Too often we try to erase the past instead of embracing our entire life. Looking back I see steps and pits. It's when pits become steps that I can truly move forward. :)
My two cents for the day :) - Sheri

Women in India Enter Temple Closed Off to Women for Centuries

New Delhi in the southern state of Kerala, India.

On Jan. 2, 2019, two Hindu women were escorted into the Sabarimala Shrine Temple, a temple that had been closed to women for centuries. The country’s Supreme Court overturned a ban on women of menstruating age,  from entering the temple. It was ruled to be discriminatory against women.

Since the ruling, extensive and consistent riots have been held outside the temple in an attempt to keep women from entering.

Bindu Ammini, 40, a law lecturer at a university and Kanaka Durga, 39, a civil servant, were determined to enter the once banned temple.

The women were escorted by police to the temple where they entered early in the morning on Wednesday, January 2nd. Afterwards, the two women went into hiding, fearing retribution.
Protests have been fierce causing police to use tear gas and water cannons to calm the riots.

The temple is thought to be over 800 years old. It is believed the spirit of the Lord Ayyappa, the Hindu god of growth, dwells there. Ayyappa is considered celibate and allowing women of menstruating age into the temple would be disrespectful and an abomination.

The local government is run by the Communist Party of India-Marxist and the temple is run by the Hindu Nationalist Party.

Earlier this week approximately 5 million female protesters participated in a peaceful protest, forming a human chain extending about 385 miles. This was done in support of these two women and others who showed great courage in going to the temple that was once banned.

A chain of women stretching 385 miles. Selah.

Contemplate that for a minute.

This human chain represented so much more than two women entering one temple. The rights of women around the world were represented in that chain.

Back to rights. What about the rights of men in India?

While women pursue the right to enter any place of worship to pray, I must ask myself, will men be allowed into the at least eight temples where they are restricted?

Will the supreme court rule all temples must be opened to both genders?

As a religion and society, is equality and equal opportunity always required? Is segregation permitable in certain circumstances and what would those circumstances be?

These questions are not meant to disagree with the rights of women to worship freely at any temple.  To have a law that women of child bearing age cannot enter a specific temple is beyond comprehension. Although to some of those who follow the Hindu religion and the laws and customs of their gods, this law is completely acceptable.

Much of what we see isn’t about equality but about the chains of oppression being lifted from the entire female population. While American women have embraced the me too movement, the Hindu women have embraced the freedom of religion movement.

Is it morally, ethically, and legally wrong to permit men to worship at a temple without women? Yet, in this case it isn’t all women, just women of child bearing age?

Is it morally, ethically, and legally wrong to permit women to worship at a temple without men?
Is society required to respect the religious beliefs of a people group when those beliefs are contrary to other’s religious beliefs?

Women standing up to be heard, respected, given opportunity, and value is always right.

The oppression of women is denied by many a person, who have never experienced it, yet it is alive to those who have to live it.

First Woman on the Moon

While looking for a woman to highlight on “Women in the News”, I asked myself the question -

Who was the first woman on the moon?

To answer that question, I went to the faithful Google search tab on my computer and looked it up.

No woman has visited the moon.  During that time in NASA history, there were no women in the US astronaut corps.

I don’t find this offensive in anyway as it was a different day and age. The lack of women in the astronaut corps does not tarnish or diminish the incredible missions that changed the world.

Women may not have been on the moon, but women were always behind the scenes as a critical foundation for those who go beyond.

We find in history that women were not always afforded the same opportunities as their male counterparts, but I know that women were not irrelevant in these same opportunities. It is like the movie Jaws. The enormous man-eating shark was the main character in the movie yet what would the movie have been without the people to stalk, scare, and eventually eat?

Supporting roles in the movies and in life are critical to the end masterpiece. While some are the leading characters, the story would be non-existent without the entire cast.
